If Tomorrow Comes is the first book in the Tracy Whitney series by Sidney Sheldon. It’s succeeded by Chasing Tomorrow and Reckless written by Tilly Bagshawe. It’s a heart wrenching story about a girl with an ordinary happy life, whose life is turned upside down after a fateful ordeal. A very ambitious banker, she has a bright future and is going to get married in a few days to one of the most influential guys in the state. But everything she has ever dreamed of, turns into turmoil as her mother gets involved with the New Orleans mafia and loses her company to them in debt.

Tracy goes to the Mafia leader, Romano to get her mother’s revenge and making him admit her mother’s innocence, but events turn out very differently and he tries to rape her. The police don’t believe her, as everyone is in the vicious circle and in control of Romano. She is sent to jail, for attempt to murder, where she realises she is pregnant with his fiancé’s child. Everyone abandons her in the very difficult of situations, and all she is left with is, herself. She fights the system and gets her revenge but her life will never be the same.

Tracy Whitney is a character with whom you can defamiliarise(check the net for the meaning) with . She is everyone of us and still none of us. Her charisma, her strength, her patience is just soul-stirring. The way she accepts everything that is thrown at her, and fights for her rights and freedom is breath-taking. The determination she portrays in the hardest f situations , to never give up and always face the odd no matter what, is something to learn as a reader. This character is going to stay with you for a long while.
Sheldon, as always is not going to disappoint his readers. His awestruck and stupefying writing is going to take your breath away as you turn the pages through this very fast paced and twisty tale. One is always going to be baffled by the turn of events after a few pages. You will just not be able to keep the book down. I will give it a 10/10.

This book has engraved itself in my mind for a lifetime. I could not stop reading it for hours and when I finished it I could not properly sleep for at least two days. So this is one of the popular ones and also one of my favourites. Though Chetan Bhagat did not put much of a lasting impression on me from his previous books but this one raised a lot of questions in my mind related to our Indian society, our thinking, our habits, our perceptions , our stereotypes and how we treat people who don’t know English like they should be born with the language already wired in their minds even if it is not their native language.
