The Girl Who Played With Fire- Stieg Larsson

The Girl Who Played With Fire is the second part of the Criminal Trilogy preceded by the Girl With The Dragon Tattoo. Larsson never makes one fall any less of their expectations from him. Lisbeth Salander is convicted for three murders, and whole of the Sweden police is after her but are unable to trace her in any way. Dag and Mia, both victims are friends with Mikael Blomkvist, one of the most popular and renowned journalists of Sweden. Mikael had worked with Salander and was clearly sceptical about the whole situation and about Salander being portrayed as a murderer.

Dag Svensson, a hardworking and passionate journalist was on the verge of exposing a bag full of eminent people in Sweden for being a part of a Sex Trafficking Organisation in Sweden. The list of people contained judiciary officials, policemen, journalists, lawyers and people from every renowned field. A week before, his book was going to be published, someone comes into their apartment and shoots both him and Mia, his fiancĂ©. The only weapon a gun that is found has Lisbeth’s fingerprints on it. Later, her guardian Bjurman is found dead to whom the revolver belongs that was found at Dag’s apartment. Hence begins a hunt for a pshycopath murderer, as she is labelled because of her disturbing past and police records.

All of this starts a wild goose chase for the police and Mikael , as they all constantly reach dead ends and are unable to find concrete suspects. He constantly and maddeningly tries to search Salander for answers but to no avail. On the other hand, Salander has gone underground and is deep rooted in her own research to find the real killers. She is connected to this Sex scam in a way that no one can ever imagine and the link goes years back when she was a child. Larsson will make you chew your fingernails, as you read through and not let you stop thinking about who killed who. Salander will leave one at awe, and her persona will leave an imprint on every reader’s mind. The book is gripping, fresh, lively and most of all jaw-dropping. You really won’t want to mess with Salander. I give it a 9/10.
