Chasing Tomorrow-Tilly Bagshawe

Chasing tomorrow is the second sequel to If Tomorrow Comes. The once enigmatic and flawless criminal Tracy decides to have a normal life together with her partner Jeff Stevens. Together they have accomplished the most notorious of cons, but leaving all of that behind they decide to settle down. Jeff starts working in the British Museum and Tracy’s focus completely shifts to start a family.
They are in marital bliss but with time things start to crumble down. They constantly try to have a baby, which turns into a nightmare for Tracy. She slips into depression, constantly yearning for a child which sidelines Jeff into a corner. He starts losing his connection with her as she mostly remains withdrawn and lost. With the entrance of a person, their marriage comes crumbling down like a stack of cards.

Tracy feeling betrayed vanishes into thin air, and with that she carries away a secret with her, never to be known to Jeff. For almost a decade she remains hidden from the eyes of the world. Jeff loses all his wits as he never had a chance to explain himself. He becomes hysterical and frantic but he is unable to locate Tracy. Finally he gives up, and returns to his old days of being a conman.
After almost a decade, an Interpol officer Jean Rizzo digs Tracy out and asks for her help to find a serial killer. She ultimately agrees to help and with that she has been soaked back into the world she has been hiding away from all this time. She is asked to investigate a series of brutal prostitute killings over a span of ten years. Interestingly the murders have taken place in all those cities where Tracy has pulled off an act in her con days. With the adding up of things, disturbing facts start appearing and she gets to know that someone has been insanely trying to locate her all these years. As she gets to uncover the layers under theses mysterious murders, she is going to lose the love of her life.

The story unfolds the aspects of miscommunication in a marriage, how one starts to give importance to something that does not exist to something that is right in front of one’s eyes. You should always cherish the things you have, because once they are gone they can be gone forever.

Tilly Bagshawe has beautifully and intricately used Sidney Sheldon’s style to create this enthralling piece of work. She with no doubt is going to leave her reader not able to close the book till the end. The story is thrilling and downright exciting till the last of the page. The sudden twists and turns through it will leave you in a head spin. One of my favourite female characters, Tracy is never disappointing. She is a true survivor. I will give it a 9/10.
